And the weather forecast is... prepare for typical summer's day This is Somerset --

Come rain or shine, music fans will be determined to enjoy Glastonbury – and with mixed weather predicted for the festival, they will have to be prepared for both.

Wellies and raincoats, as well as sunglasses and sun cream, will be in order for festival goers heading to Worthy Farm in Somerset for the 2013 festival, which throws open its gates on June 26.

Many will be hoping that the heavy rain that has blighted the festival in previous years will not be repeated – with the site resembling a mud bath at times the last time it was staged, in 2011, and fans even creating a "welly graveyard" for footwear that had been destroyed by the difficult conditions under foot.

It is not yet clear if the sun will shine on the Pyramid Stage, as happened in 2010 during a heatwave that saw the festival described as the "hottest ever Glastonbury".

That year saw thousands of people treated by the Glastonbury medical team however, most for sun stroke.

The Met Office said that the week of the festival would see "changeable" conditions, "with showers or spells of more persistent rain interspersed with drier, brighter interludes".

The south of England is due to "see the best of the fine and warmer spells" but as the weekend progresses, westerly winds will bring weather systems from the Atlantic which could see rain over Glastonbury. Reported by This is 8 hours ago.
