WATER ORTON CC FIRST XI (82) lost to EASTNOR (88-5) by five wickets

WATER Orton's recent winning ways were ended as they crashed to defeat in a low-scoring contest.

Having won the toss, Water Orton decided to bat but were soon regretting the decision as Warren Badger (2), Aden Murray (6) and Matthew Dawes (4) fell cheaply.

Wickets continued to tumble as Shahid Ahmed (5-41) and Atiq Ur Rehman (4-17) ripped through the innings.

Only Grant Roscorla (22), Richard Morgan (18no) and Lesroy Irish (13) made double figures as Water Orton were bowled out for 82.

Eastnor made hard work of reaching their target, losing five wickets.

They were guided to victory by man of the match Ur Rehman (37).

Ed Harris (2-26) was the pick of the Water Orton bowlers while Irish, Morgan and Jonathan Lee claimed a wicket each.

The seconds had better fortunes against Eastnor.

All-rounder Alex Glastonbury claimed 3-32 as Eastnor finished on 148-9 off their 45 overs.

Thomas Caulfield also claimed two wickets while Clive Chadani top scored with 43.

Caulfield (56no) and Glastonbury (54no) then guided Water Orton to a nine wicket victory.

Water Orton CC First XI claimed a five-wicket win over local rivals Fillongley in the National Village Cup on Sunday.

Fillongley were bowled out for 175 despite the best efforts of Andy Carty (52no).

Stephen Murphy (3-42) and Ed Harris (3-34) were the pick of the Water Orton bowlers while Richard Morgan grabbed 2-21.

Water Orton endured a disastrous start as Harris (0), Aden Murray (4) and Harry Bennett (8) fell cheaply.
