Luke Friend sets sights on the X-Factor final and Glastonbury This is South Devon --

TEIGNMOUTH'S Luke Friend was dubbed as 'one of the frontrunners' by X Factor judges on Saturday.

The 17-year-old received nothing but praise from all four judges who said this was Luke's week and that he should be in the final.

He took to the stage with his guitar and belted out a version of Bon Iver's Skinny Love which Sharon Osborne described as 'big juicy love'.

The song was chosen for the Coombeshead Academy student by the X Factor audience and he revealed he used to sing it with his best friend who has now moved to Australia.

Sharon said: "Every week you up your game. You never plateau. I can see you singing that at Glastonbury."

Gary Barlow said: "Good job. That had bags of personality and lots of identity. You're coming from nowhere and you're one of the front runners for me. Amazing job. You're one of my favourites."

Nicole Scherzinger said it was her favourite performance by Luke so far. And said he shone singing this sort of music.

Louis Walsh said Luke deserved to have a record deal and said he was the 'one to watch'  in the competition.

Luke said Glastonbury was his favourite festival but admitted he had never been able to go.

X Factor host Dermot O'Leary joked: "Imagine if the first time you went you were performing. That would be amazing'.

He also had the X Factor studio roaring and on their feet with his version of Mumford and Sons hit I Will Wait.

Luke chose the song by his musical heroes saying it was 'pretty rad' to perform it on stage as it was 'straight down his lane'.

Sharon Osborne said it was Luke's best performance since the contest began. "It is the right time for you," she said.

"You're in the right place. You are going to be in the final."

Gary Barlow said the young Teignbridge star had everything they were looking for when they set out on the X Factor journey.

He said: " The overall vibe was fantastic and the studio loved it."

Nicole said Luke was unapologetic and unafraid and this was his week.

Louis added: "You have arrived. The final is in sight. You are a breath of fresh air and this is your comfort zone." Reported by This is 2 days ago.
