BHANGRA beats promise to bring a bounce to two North Devon villages this weekend. RSVP are a band known for their high energy, interactive and fun shows.
The band are spearheading the renaissance of live Bhangra in the UK. Every show comes with an introduction to Bhangra dance, and has a strong emphasis on partying Punjabi style.
RSVP's music is rooted within Punjabi culture with musicians drawn from one family across two generations.
"RSVP's fan base stretches from Hindi wedding parties to Glastonbury," said Beaford Arts director Mark Wallace. "If you need to get a party started, they're the guys to call – and if you don't know the moves, don't worry. They'll show you!
"RSVP are already well-known to the festival crowd in the SW, but it's a real coup to be bringing them to rural North Devon. This might be a one-off chance for our villages to party Bhangra-style, and we think it'll be one of the best nights out we've brought so far."
The band represents both the authentic traditions and contemporary reworking of Bhangra music, the ultimate celebratory Indian music.
The seven band members play an amazing array of Punjabi instruments while lead singer Dildar, with his smoth, rich vocals brings a huge fun-loving stage presence.
