DERBY folk sensation Lucy Ward is returning to the city to play a free gig to celebrate releasing her second album.
The 23-year-old's new record, Single Flame, which is released on Monday, has already received rave reviews.
Lucy said on her blog: "I sit here in front of my computer with a world of announcements and excitement at my finger tips.
"The reviews so far have been astoundingly lush and I'm finally feeling a sense of calm in among the giddy excitement and overwhelming nerves."
Lucy, from Littleover, will be appearing at HMV, in Albion Street, on the day of the album's release to sign copies and also to play several songs from the new record.
She will appear from 5pm.
The Guardian's Robin Denselow gave Lucy's album, released by Navigator Records, four out of five stars.
He said: "Lucy Ward, now 23, has changed her hair colour and image, and proves to be an even more mature and thoughtful singer-songwriter than she was on Adelphi Has to Fly, her much-praised debut album from two years ago."
Lucy's career has gone from strength to strength in recent months and she has played Glastonbury Festival and Bearded Theory this summer.
Her homecoming appearance at Derby's HMV will mark yet another high point on what has been a remarkable year with sold-out shows and a countrywide tour.
Last year, Lucy won the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards Horizon Award for best newcomer and her recording of Maids When You're Young was nominated as best traditional track.
Lucy will also be playing Greenbelt Festival, Cheltenham, on this Friday, Towersey Folk Festival on Saturday, Shrewsbury Folk Festival on Sunday, and Fylde Folk Festival, on Saturday, August 31.
Later in the year she will be playing dates in the Netherlands and Belgium. Reported by This is 2 days ago.
