
Wells Reindeer Parade returns to the city on Sunday with a packed programme of festivities. The event officially opens at 11am with a presentation of children's prizes by the Mayor of Wells, Councillor Theo Butt Philip and the President of Wells Rotary Club, David Sansom.
On the stage in the Market Square, the Drystones folk duo will be playing from 11.15am.
Winners of the Mid Somerset News and Media's Battle of the Bands competition, they also appeared at Glastonbury Festival this year.
At St Cuthbert's Church, the Christmas Tree Festival will be open from 11.45am to 4pm.
From noon the reindeer will be heading down the High Street led by the Wells City Band and the town crier Len Sweales.
It starts at the Market Place, proceeds down the High Street, returning via Queen Street and the High Street back to the Market Place by about 12.45pm.
A community singing session will be led by the Cantabile Ladies' Choir directed by Tracey Hansford, from 12.45pm to 1.15pm.
Wells City Band will take the stage at 1.15pm under the direction of Jane Hill.
Wells Cathedral Choristers directed by Matthew Owens will be performing from 1.45pm to 2.15pm.
At 2.30pm there will be a draw for the prizes and closing remarks from Wells Rotary president David Sansom and the Mayor of Wells, Councillor Theo Butt Philip.
Finally from 2.30pm to 3pm Stacey Bartlett and Emma Wilkinson will be performing jazz, soul and gospel numbers for all to enjoy. Reported by This is 20 hours ago.
