![DJ Derek to bring curtain down on decades at the decks with final Bristol gig]()
This is Bristol -- BRISTOL'S legendary DJ Derek will play his final gig in the city at the end of this month. The 71-year-old, known for his reggae collection, will bring the curtain down on his DJing days in Bristol at Pranj's Bar in Corn Street on Sunday December 29. A former Cadbury accountant, whose real name is Derek Morris, he has become an icon on the Bristol music scene and played at numerous festivals including Glastonbury. But now, after decades in the business, the star is calling it a day. He announced he would stop playing outdoor venues in the summer and made one last appearance at the Harbour Festival. DJ Derek has been opening the Harbour Festival for years and organisers said he felt it was the right place to play outdoors for the last time. Of his final gig in Bristol, a spokeswoman for Pranj's Bar said: "This is a real honour for us."
