![George Ezra: Bristol musician named in BBC Sound of 2014 longlist]()
This is Bristol -- Bristol singer-songwriter George Ezra has been named in the BBC Sound of 2014 longlist. The likes of Ella Eyre, Sam Smith, Royal Blood and Banks are also in the running to be named the hottest artist of 2014. BBC Sound of 2014 list features fifteen of the hottest new music acts, annually compiled by BBC News, to highlight the best and brightest rising stars for the year ahead. 170 music industry tastemakers including DJs, critics, broadcasters and bloggers were asked to name their three favourite new acts. Last year's winners were Californian band Haim, who went on to have a Number One in October with their debut album, Days Are Gone. Previous winners have included Adele, Ellie Goulding and Jessie J. The 15-act longlist will be whittled down to five in January, with the winner announced by Nick Grimshaw on the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show on January 10. George, 19, performed to a packed crowd on the BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury this year and has been described as 'grizzly folk-pop'. You can download a free MP3 of his track Budapest here. He studied at the Bristol Institute of Modern Music, and regularly plays at Bristol venue The Gallimaufry, which is round the corner. He is going on a European tour in the new year, which comes to the Fleece on March 3.
